The Journey of Legend character visuals drop as Cheng Yi’s latest drama premieres this week
After much hype and promotion over the last few weeks, Cheng Yi’s latest drama The Journey of Legend finally has a premiere date — September 11th on Tencent Video and iQIYI.
Along with that premiere announcement earlier today, we also just got a ton of promo materials dropping (and except more in the next couple of days), as both streaming platforms want to make sure you don’t miss this one.
Well, with over 10 million reservations already, it is likely to be one of the most successful Chinese dramas of 2025. So there’s that.
Among today’s promo pieces, a very nice bunch of The Journey of Legend character visuals has just dropped, with two cool looking ones for Cheng Yi (above), one for female lead Gulnezer Bextiyar (below), alongside visuals for the C-drama’s lead supporting cast.
And can I ask is it just me who thinks the promotional pieces Chinese production companies drop when they’re marketing their latest dramas are substantially better than most things coming out of South Korea or Japan?
Because these are incredibly vibrant and beautiful.
The visuals arrived with a comment from Tencent simply saying, they “know people have been anxious for The Journey of Legend‘s release, but good things come to those who wait”.
Let’s hope so then, eh?
Where to watch The Journey of Legend
Unfortunately for those of us in the U.S., it appears The Journey of Legend will be streaming via iQIYI and not Tencent’s WeTV.
And I say “unfortunately” as iQIYI has not streamed some of the most-anticipated dramas of the year in previous months, but has chosen for them to be available on YouTube instead.
For an additional subscription, of course.
For those of us who already pay for an iQIYI subscription then, that’s been annoying.
Hence why, out of the three main streaming services, iQIYI is currently my least favorite.
Look out for The Journey of Legend premiering on iQIYI or Tencent Video/WeTV in your neck of the woods on Thursday, September 11th.
