In anticipation of the release, a series of character PVs have been released for some of the donghua’s main and supporting characters.

They include the just released Qin Wang character PV and Li Jin character PV, both of which came out on Bilibili’s YouTube channel this morning.

Qin Wang and Li Jin’s character PVs

Qin Wang’s character video shows the king giving orders to his troops, as he prepares to launch an attack.

At the end of the video, however, as the attack has occurred, we see him standing in front of Li Jin, who is in a palace compound that has been set on fire.

As he stands there, Li Jin’s character video then picks up the story, as she falls to the ground bleeding and likely dying, and Qin Wang rushes over to hold her in his arms.

The Legend of Princess Chang-Ge’s origins

Adapted from the 2011 manhua Chang Ge Xing (Song of the Long March) written and illustrated by Xia Da, it is also a re-telling of the story from the 2021 Chinese drama The Long Ballad.

Bilibili explains the donghua’s plot like this:

The King of Qin launches a palace mutiny to kill his brother the Crown Prince’s family, and only the Crown Prince’s daughter, Princess Li Chang-Ge, escapes with her life.

Li Chang-Ge swears to pay her debt in blood, and soon after disguises herself as a man and embarks on a road of revenge full of ups and downs.
