With just two episodes left to air, the Korean romance drama The Midnight Romance in Hagwon, Episode 14 aired last night to ratings that hit a new all-time high.

Those ratings were 5.19 percent nationwide, which is a substantial increase from Episode 13’s rating of 3.61 percent the night before.

The tvN drama performed even better with audiences in Seoul, grabbing a 6.30 percent audience share — up from Episode 13’s much lower 4.55 percent of the viewership.

The Jung Ryeo Won and Wi Ha Joon-led drama is also still going gangbusters on Viki, where it is streaming for that platform’s international subscribers.

More than 2,000 people have currently rated the drama, and it is still receiving a very high 9.2 out of 10.

Not a surprise really, when the high drama heats up with each subsequent episode released.

One Viki viewer explains the appeal of The Midnight Romance in Hagwon perfectly:

What starts as the hopeful fulfillment of a teenage crush evolves into so much more.

Yes, there is steamy romance at the heart of the narrative but greed, jealousy, loyalty and ambition are close seconds, thirds, etc. Family expectations are yet another dynamic to this layered masterpiece.

And then shifting corporate allegiances, thought-provoking politics both within and across academies, plus a horde of backstabbing antagonists are thrown into the mix.

The Midnight Romance in Hagwon stars Jung Ryeo Won and Wi Ha Joon.

The drama’s final two episodes air next weekend on tvN.
