The final cour of the ongoing fantasy action adventure donghua The Westward, Season 5 recently came to an end in China, but the animated series’ has not yet stopped promoting its last few episodes. Yay!
That promotion continued on The Westward‘s official Weibo account earlier today, with six new screenshots of the donghua’s protagonist Sun Wu Kong, aka The Monkey King, being released.
The stills also came with a message:

Wu Kong returns with great power, reborn and having broken through. Faith is immortal! Let us follow Wu Kong as he meets the final powerful enemy.

The Westward details
Season 5 of The Westward (aka Xi Xing Ji) is the latest season of a very popular Chinese donghua that premiered its first ever episode way back in July, 2018.
The Westward went on to release three more seasons from 2019 to 2022, with Season 5 — Xi Xing Ji: Nian Fan — premiering on August 2nd, 2023 and running through January 17th, 2025 for a total of 64 episodes.
The fantasy action donghua is created by Chinese animation studio BYMENT, which, while it does have a couple of other lesser known series out, has primarily concentrated on animating episodes of The Westward since 2018.
The series is produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures.

You can watch The Westward, Season 5 via WeTV, although that streaming platform has only released up to Episode 60 of the 64 episode series so far.
