Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden OP music video is gorgeous and features all our favorite swords
While I am a bigger fan of the Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu anime series than the currently ongoing Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji, the latter anime has still been a season favorite.
After all, what’s not to like about a story in which famous Japanese swords become incredibly handsome men, right?
And, to prove how truly lovely those men are, we just got an official music video for the Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden opening theme song — “Whatever Happens” by INI — which TOHO Animation is calling the “Climax Animation Music Video“.
That music video features some absolutely gorgeous scenes from the anime series, from when swords are made into men, through to the antics those men and boys get up to at the Citadel and, of course, the emotions they struggle with when they are sent out on missions to prevent the Time Retrograde Army from rewriting history.
All of our favorites appear in the new Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden “Whatever Happens” music video, while the video itself shows just what a beautifully illustrated anime this has been right from the start.
“Whatever Happens” by INI too is a pretty illustration of the anime and the “swords” featured in it, while being one of those songs that, at first, seems light until you realize you’ve become quite addicted.
The staff of Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden
Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji is directed by Kazuya Ichikawa (Romantic Killer), with Kenichi Suemitsu (the upcoming Delico’s Nursery) in charge of scripts and series composition, and those stunning character designs from Mari Takada (Bakugan).
The Touken Ranbu anime series started out as an online collectible card game, but became so popular with Japanese women it soon spawned several anime series, stage plays and two live-action films.
Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji is the latest one in the series, with a full-length anime film also due out either this year or next.
Watch the just-released Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnouji music video below, and make sure you watch the final episode in the anime series on Crunchyroll when it premieres tomorrow (May 21st).
You can also hear “Whatever Happens” by INI in the Spotify player below that.
