Undercover High School, Episode 2 ratings soar: A promising climb for this K-drama gem

Fans of Korean dramas have plenty to cheer about as Undercover High School, the action-packed comedy starring the charismatic Seo Kang Joon, is already making waves just two episodes in!
That’s because the second episode, which aired on February 22nd, saw a solid uptick in viewership last night, proving that this fresh MBC series is quickly winning hearts across South Korea—and beyond.
According to Nielsen Korea, Undercover High School scored a nationwide rating of 6.6% for its second episode, a solid 1% jump from its premiere’s already impressive 5.6% on Friday night.
In the Seoul metropolitan area, the numbers are just as good, with Episode 2 pulling in a 6.5% rating, up 0.7% from the K-drama’s debut.
For a drama that’s only two episodes deep so far, this kind of growth could definitely be a great sign of things to come.

The demographics for Undercover High School are excellent too

But the good news doesn’t stop there.
Undercover High School didn’t just climb in overall ratings—it also dominated its time slot among the coveted 20-to-49 demographic, snagging a 2.8% average rating.
That’s enough to crown it the most-watched drama of the night in this key group, showing the Korean drama’s first two episodes have obviously resonated with younger audiences craving a mix of action, humor, and heart.

What’s driving the buzz for Undercover High School?

It’s no surprise that Seo Kang Joon’s return to the small screen in his first drama after returning from military service is a major draw.
Playing Jung Hae Seong, an elite National Intelligence Service agent masquerading as a high school student, the now-31-year-old actor is bringing his signature charm and intensity to a role that’s equal parts thrilling and pretty damned hilarious.
Plus, it’s amazing how young he can actually look, isn’t it?
Add in the excellent chemistry with Jin Ki Joo as his sharp-witted homeroom teacher Oh Soo Ah, and you’ve got a recipe for must-watch TV.
Meanwhile, the show’s blend of espionage, teenage hijinks, and a treasure hunt for Emperor Gojong’s missing gold bars seems to be hitting all the right notes with viewers.

Undercover High School vs Buried Hearts

Airing in the competitive late night Friday-Saturday slot, Undercover High School is also currently holding its own against heavy hitter Buried Hearts, which also saw a ratings boost to 8.1% for its second episode last night.
But rather than overshadowing it, this friendly rivalry seems to be lifting both dramas, giving K-drama fans a double dose of weekend excitement.
With Undercover High School airing at 9:50 PM (KST) on MBC, and streaming globally on platforms like Viki, Kocowa, and Viu depending on the region, it already seems clear this show is poised to become a standout hit of 2025.
So, what’s next for Jung Hae Seong and his high school disguise?
Let’s just say, if the first two episodes are any indication, this drama is ready to take us on a wild, and very entertaining ride.
Plan your snacks and mark your calendar for the next episode on Friday, February 28th as, so far at least, Undercover High School is proving it’s definitely one to watch.
