The new comedy romance drama My Sweet Mobster premiered last night to solid ratings in South Korea.
Its ratings were also higher than Frankly Speaking, the drama that previously aired in the same time slot.
Korean title: 놀아주는 여자
Cast: Uhm Tae Goo, Han Sun Hwa and Kwon Yul
Broadcast company: SBS
Episodes: 16
Airs: June 12th to August 1st, 2024
Time slot: Every Wednesday and Thursday at 20:50 (KST)
Poster: (one of three released)
Plot: My Sweet Mobster follows the story of stern and humorless ex-gangster Seo Ji Hwan (played by Uhm Tae Goo) and children’s content creator Go Eun Ha (Han Sun Hwa) who meet when he is in a nightclub looking for a drug dealer, and she is in the same club dressed in a fake police officer’s uniform as she has just come from filming a children’s video.
After Eun Ha tries to “arrest” Ji Hwan when she mistakenly believes he is the one who started a dangerous fight, he meets her again and tells her to stay at least 50 meters away from him.
Of course, that isn’t likely to happen. Especially as, by the end of Episode 1, it appears opposites may just indeed attract.
The Korean drama is a goofy, slapstick comedy with solid acting, a unique plot, superb visual effects, and a well-written plot.
If you enjoy a K-drama that is fun and relaxing, this one hits all the right spots.
