The Korean romantic comedy Welcome to Samdalri, Episode 6 aired last night on JTBC to an all-time high in the ratings nationwide.

It is the fifth consecutive time the K-drama has earned a higher rating than its previous episode, as the Korean drama started out earning 5.19 percent of the audience share for its first episode (now its lowest ever rating).

Last night’s rating increase, however, was a big one as Episode 6 of Welcome to Samdalri jumped 1.61 percent from its previous episode’s nationwide rating of 6.68 percent.

International viewers still positive about Welcome to Samdalri

Meanwhile, international viewers are not only still rating the drama high (8.4 out of 10 on My Drama List), but they are also leaving overwhelmingly positive comments about the K-drama ranging from insights into its plot:

I think that this drama (rom-com), beyond the two main actors who are amazing and versatile actors, as well as the secondary characters, and the love story, has a depth far beyond what you see, and it touches on the point – about how unbearably easily celebrities can fall and be destroyed because of whim, jealousy and rumors of others (actors, singers, models, etc.), without even giving them the opportunity to explain themselves or defend themselves, the first move is to cancel contracts with them, which is really sad.

Another point is to show the huge difference between city life (Seoul) and village life, in the big city everything is cut off, people work on a basis, jealous competition and achievements at the expense of others, in the village there is warmth, caring “one for all and all for one”.

to comments about the K0drama’s beautifully-written characters:

The Suspicious Partner Ji Chang Wook’s pose as lawyer Noh Ji Wook with his arms folded was epic. He even had the same expression LOL.

I really love her friends and their tight friendship. It’s not about having x number of friends, it is about having loyal ones who will be there and support you through the highs and lows.

The next episode of Welcome to Samdalri will air on Saturday, December 23rd both on JTBC in South Korea, and on Netflix for international viewers.

The K-drama stars Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun and is scheduled to run for 16 episodes.

Its final episode will air on January 21st, 2024.
