The ongoing Chinese donghua World of Immortals, Episode 6 premiered today, with animation studio Qingxiang Culture releasing a slew of stills from the latest episode (see above and below) ahead of its release via Weibo.
As per usual, this precipitated some Chinese viewers to complain about the production value of the donghua (which, personally, I think, for the most part, has been excellent).
Yep, if you think western donghua fans can be opinionated, wait until you listen to some of the comments coming from China when it comes to the latest episode of World of Immortals (Chang Sheng Jie).
Those responses came after Qingxiang Culture posted the World of Immortals, Episode 6 stills release on Weibo, along with this comment:
Xiao Chen dramatically advances! Defeats the enemy and saves the three kings!
The lair is invaded by ominous energy, a complete victory over the Royal Heavenly Maiden!
Finally, Gu Luo retreats in defeat, filled with resentment!
While some fans then responded positively, saying how much they liked the donghua and its protagonist Xiao Chen, others had comments ranging from:
What’s on fire? The production team’s household register?
to
How can you say the fights are good with stiff punches, and smoke effects?
and
Your only advantage is the modeling, everything else is terrible. What were the director and screenwriter thinking? The plot, tsk. And the martial arts actors, are they actually professional dancers? Following my left hand, right hand, with slow-motion [sigh].
The camera shots shouldn’t always be shaking either. Even when falling from the sky, does it need to shake? It makes me dizzy just watching it.
with one even commenting:
I think that princess is a ‘boxed lunch’ now. Just seeing her is annoying.
(Note: “盒饭” (boxed lunch) is a slang term sometimes used to imply that a character’s role is uninteresting, unappealing or over. Or that they should be written off, in a dismissive or humorous way.)
Yep, I disagree with most of the comments about the production (although that shaky camera during the action scenes does occasionally make your eyes hurt), but I can definitely get behind the comment about the annoying princess, as I’m sick to death of seeing her too.
Anyway, regardless of the Chinese whinging, here are the rest of the World of Immortals, Episode 6 stills Qingxiang Culture released today.
As always, the latest World of Immortals episode looks cool.
Donghua is my life.
