Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku Narumi Momose and Hirotaka Nifuji character visual released

The official website of the anime adaptation of the Fujita rom-com manga series Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku (aka Otaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii) has unveiled a new visual featuring main characters Narumi Momose and Hirotaka Nifuji.

The website also presented a new promotional video introducing the visual, and announcing that A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online) is the animation studio that is producing the anime.

It isn’t the only character visual we’re getting though (thankfully, as everything about this anime looks great!), as a new illustration featuring Hanako Koyanagi and Tarō Kabakura will also be revealed next week, with a third visual for Naoya Nifuji and Kō Sakuragi coming out on January 18th.

The Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku plot

The manga’s (and now the anime’s) narrative revolves around the quirky romantic dynamic between Narumi, a female office worker who is a full-on Fujoshi outside work, but prefers people don’t know, and Hirotaka, a handsome, proficient company man who has a similar secret, as he is an otaku when it comes to playing video games.

The two knew each other previously, but now work in the same office after Narumi changes jobs, and soon find they have quite a lot in common.

The voice actors playing the two main characters were previously announced. They are Arisa Date who is voicing Narumi, and Kent Itou who voices Hirotaka.

The Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku manga series in English

As for the manga the upcoming anime series is based on, the Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku manga has been so popular in Japan, Volume 5 is due out on February 2nd.

It has also received a nominated for a Kodansha Manga Award, and currently has more than 4.2 million copies in circulation.

Once the anime is released, that number is likely to increase markedly.

Kodansha USA has already announced they will be publishing Fujita’s manga in English, with its first two volumes due out on April 17th – right as its anime premieres.

There isn’t much longer to wait for its animated version either, as the Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku anime series is scheduled to premiere on Fuji TV in April 2018.

Until then, enjoy the just-released Love is Hard for Otaku character visual featuring Narumi Momose and Hirotaka Nifuji above.
