As for the Xiao Fang’s Wedding plot, Baidu explains it like this (and, boy, is this one far away from the norm when it comes to the usual C-drama’s we all watch):

On the eve of the Spring Festival, Yang Fan Yyan, who was far away in Shenzhen, receives a call from her brother Fan Hhu, urging her to return to their hometown early to help resolve a thorny issue: Fan Hu’s daughter, Yang Xiao Fang, has fallen in love with a young man from the same village, Qi Xiao Wei, and become pregnant before marriage.

Negotiations between the two families before the wedding have now fallen apart, and Xiao Fang’s marriage now seems unlikely. Yet, the child in her belly is already far along and about to be born, leaving Xiao Fang at a loss for what to do.

Upon returning to the mountain village, Fan Yan attempts to negotiate with the Qi family but fails.

News that Xiaofang has been “dumped” quickly spreas. Soon, matchmakers flocks to the Yang household, along with bachelors from miles around who didn’t mind Xiao Fang’s pregnancy — after all, they are eager to “take over,” proving that the Yang family’s daughter is still in high demand. Pregnant or not.

With Xiao Fang nearing childbirth, the choices loom large.

Should she reconcile with Xiao Wei? Marry someone else? Or remain single? Should the child be given to the father, raised by the Yang family, or sent away to another place?

Fan Yan runs herself ragged trying to handle Xiao Fang’s predicament. Gradually, however, she begins to realize that the people around her all seem to harbor their own unspeakable secrets—each somehow connected, directly or indirectly, to the unborn child in Xiao Fang’s womb.

Yep. Like I said. Markedly different from the run-of-the-mill Chinese drama.

Xiao Fang Chu Jia (aka Xiao Fang’s Wedding) is adapted from the popular web novel “Xiao Fang Chu Jia” (小芳出嫁) written by Yi Bei (伊北).

Of course, if this does eventually make it to Tencent Video, and we always say “if” as so many Chinese dramas never see the light of day even years after filming ends, it will be at least early to mid-2026 before it will begin streaming.

We’ll keep you posted.

Meanwhile, enjoy the Xiao Fang Chu Jia booting photos. Now this ended up getting a very cool cast, right?
