The new ENA drama Your Honor, Episode 1 aired last night to solid ratings.

According to the data from Nielsen Korea, Your Honor, Episode 1 grabbed 1.73 percent of the ratings nationwide, and a higher 1.90 percent from viewers in Seoul.

Both are decent ratings for an ENA drama and, with nine episodes left to air, have set the K-drama up nicely for a ratings increase from here.

Your Honor stars Son Hyun Joo, Kim Myung Min, Kim Do Hoon, and Heo Nam Jun.

It is an original Genie TV drama that is based on an American remake of a 2017 Israeli drama called Kvodo (כבודו).

Viki describes the Your Honor plot like this:

Son Ho Young (played by Kim Do Hoon), the son of Judge Song Pan Ho (Son Hyun Joo), kills the son of crime boss Kim Kang Heon (Kim Myung Min) in a hit-and-run accident.

While Pan Ho initially encourages Ho Young to confess, he eventually covers up the incident to protect him.

Kang Heon, currently in prison for tax evasion and embezzlement, seeks an early release after hearing of his son’s death. This sparks a fierce battle between two fathers on opposite sides of the legal spectrum. How far are they willing to go for their children?

The Korean drama is currently streaming on Viki outside South Korea, where it is being rated a very high 9.6 out of 10 so far.

Its first episode, by the way, was gripping with a nicely-written script, superb performances from the excellent main cast, and, in my opinion, even better than the outstanding American drama it is based on.
