That premiere date was announced earlier today via Tencent’s Weibo account, along with the release of a slew of new posters from the Chinese drama.

Two comments also accompanied the C-drama’s latest visuals:

Light and shadow interweave, footsteps move in unison; on the road ahead, they accompany each other and comfort each other.

and

Reality unfolds before my eyes, the painting in my heart quietly brightens, while another self depicts the appearance of my dream.

Both of which give you an idea of the atmosphere we can expect in Reborn — mysterious and romantic.

And, since we have been waiting so long for this one to premiere (filming ended in December, 2023), I am all in for all of it, aren’t you?

Reborn production details

The Chinese youth thriller is based on the web novel “Huan Yu” (焕羽) written by Qiang Yu (蔷屿).

It is directed by Liu Ziwei (My Heart Leaps Up), with Qian Jingjing (Eternal Brotherhood) and Xu Xiyuan (Eternal Brotherhood) co-writing scripts.

Along with the newly-released visuals, we also got a confirmation of the main Reborn cast.

It is Zhang Jingyi who plays Qiao Qing Yu, alongside Zhou Yiran who is Ming Sheng, and Liu Dan as Li Fanghao as the three leads.

The drama’s cast also includes what Tencent is calling “special starring actors” Wu You (I Know I Love You) as Qiao Baiyu, and Huang Tingxuan (Young Blood, Season 2) who plays Qiao Jinrui.

Along with its supporting cast — Wang Yidi (Ray of Light) as Wang Mumu, Chen Xixu (Growing Together) as Qiao Lusheng and Huang Yi (Who Rules the World) — this one has an excellent cast that should be able to bring the drama’s fascinating plot to life quite spectacularly.

That Reborn plot, by the way, goes like this:

“Youth Means Riding the Waves”

When the tides of growth surge forward against the storms of reality, a future full of possibilities will ultimately shine bright.

This is the story of Qiao Qingyu (played by Zhang Jingyi), a transfer student who, with the help of the rebellious school heartthrob Ming Sheng (played by Zhou Yiran), gradually uncovers the truth behind her sister’s mysterious death—a “murder” the entire village conspired to hide six years ago.

Together, they find redemption in each other and grow through the pain.

More than just a tale of emotional resilience, the drama defies the survival rules of the adult world, offering today’s youth pure courage and genuine strength.

Enjoy the latest Reborn still, and look out for Reborn dropping on Tencent/WeTV on June 19th as, if you’re into youth-based mysteries, this one is intriguing.
