2nd Delicious in Dungeon ED out – Regal Lily’s ‘Kirakira no Hai’ it’s a helluva banger of a song

It’s funny how you hear the first few bars of a new song and can almost immediately say without any reservation, “Hell, this one is an absolute banger”.

Such is the case with the second Delicious in Dungeon ending theme song — ‘Kirakira no Hai’ — from Japanese pop rock band Regal Lily.

A song that played for the first time on the hit anime series tonight (Delicious in Dungeon, Episode 14), and within its first few bars made me immediately fall in love with it.

To make things even cooler, right after Episode 14 ended tonight, KADOKAWA then released the clean ending animation for the Delicious in Dungeon 2nd ending.

An ending that not only features that utterly brilliant song, but is also populated with beautiful illustrations of the characters in this what has been an absolutely superb fantasy anime series.

Why is Regal Lily’s ‘Kirakira no Hai’ such a banger?

While, of course, it’s always hard to say categorically why a song hits you and just won’t let go, it’s pretty obvious why Regal Lily’s ”Kirakira no Hai’ (キラキラの灰, “Glittering Ashes”) is likely to be a big hit in the anime world.

Not only does the guitar-driven song have a catchy melody, its huge pounding beat, courtesy of the Japanese girl-band’s drummer Yukiyama, makes it one of those songs that make you want to leap up and dance around.

No matter where you are.

And I know that’s true, as I’ve just been dancing around my kitchen for the last half hour.

Throw in those typically quirky Regal Lily vocals from lead singer and guitarist Honoka Takahashi, and that gorgeous bass line from bassist Umi and, hell, this might just be my favorite anime theme song this year so far.

Plus, doesn’t the song just beautifully musically illustrate the sentiments of the utterly wonderful Delicious in Dungeon anime?

An anime that, while it follows a group of adventurers heading down into a dungeon to save the leader’s sister, is about a lot more of that.

Things like friendship, loyalty, bravery, doing the right thing, never leaving anyone behind and, of course, cooking amazing food.

Because every time I listen to this fabulous song, it makes me think of Laios, Marcille, Senshi, Chilchuck, (and yes, Falin, wherever she is now) and how close they have grown.

Where to listen to Regal Lily’s ”Kirakira no Hai’

The rockin’ track was officially released today via Sony Music Japan, just in time for the Delicious in Dungeon 2nd cour to kick off on Netflix.

You can listen to the shortened TV version of Regal Lily’s ”Kirakira no Hai’ in the Delicious in Dungeon, 2nd cour ending animation, and enjoy those gorgeous illustrations, down below.

But, if you want to have the full 4-minute-7-second song on repeat, like I have been playing at top volume for the last hour, you can also hear the full version of the bangin’ song via Spotify below that.
