The Eminence in Shadow anime closely follows the light novels
One of the pleasant surprises of the Fall, 2022 anime season for me was the action fantasy The Eminence in Shadow.
An anime I thought was yet another average isekai until I realized, with its complicated characters, even more complicated plot, stunning world building, gorgeous art style and incredible action and battle scenes, the anime had far more depth than that.
So much so, I binge-watched the 20-episode anime series last week (yep, I am a bit behind) and now I am reading the light novels it is based on and already realizing, when the second season of The Eminence in Shadow releases, if I keep going I will already know the plot.
And that made me think, while other anime fans may also want to read the excellent light novel series, you may not want to read past where Season 1 of The Eminence in Shadow anime ends.
Or, you may be one of those fans, who is so desperate to know what happens in The Eminence of Shadow next, you will happily read through every available light novel volume to find out.
Either way, here then is information about where in the light novel series The Eminence in Shadow anime Season 1 ends.
In which light novel volume does The Eminence in Shadow Season 1 end?
The end of The Eminence in Shadow, Volume 2 is where Season 1 of the anime series ends.
Meaning the anime production team did a brilliant job adapting two full light novels into 20 action-packed episodes.
That also means The Eminence in Shadow, Volume 3 begins a new story featuring all the main characters we know, as well as a slew of new ones.
Yen Press is currently publishing every volume of The Eminence in Shadow light novel series, and they have this to say about the plot for Volume 3:
Deep within the Lawless City lies the Blood Queen, a Progenitor Vampire, slumbering in her coffin for many moons. An expert at landing himself in trouble, Cid should know better than to go after her…but he’s dying to get a piece of the action. It’s time he shed his daytime persona to take on the role of Shadow! It seems, however, that he’s not the only one with this idea.
Soon enough, he finds the three rulers of the Lawless City-Juggernaut the Tyrant, Yukime the Spirit Fox, and Crimson the vampire-are all on his tail. To complicate things even further, the Shadow Garden descends on the scene as the hour of the Blood Queen’s awakening looms closer and closer…
Once you have finished reading The Eminence in Shadow, Volume 3, you can also continue on to Volume 4 as that came out in English last week.
I am reading it now, and I recommend it.
And, of course, if you are a manga reader, Yen Press is also publishing the English translation of The Eminence in Shadow manga adaptation.
