Doubt continues to creep up in the ratings
The excellent MBC crime thriller Doubt, Episode 5 aired in South Korea on Saturday night, and finished up its first half to a personal all-time high in the ratings.
Data from Nielsen Korea shows those ratings were 6.0 percent nationwide — a solid increase from last Sunday’s 5.5 percent audience share.
The K-drama’s Seoul ratings were even better, with Doubt, Episode 5 grabbing 6.5 percent of the viewership — which is up from Episode 4’s audience share of 5.4 percent.
Those ratings are also even better than you might think.
After all, Doubt airs directly opposite the massive hit series The Judge From Hell, which grabbed 11.7 percent of the audience last night, as well as partially overlaps the same time slot as the new hit Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born (10.21 percent).
Doubt, though, seems like one of those more quiet Korean dramas that will slowly move up in the ratings as each new episode premieres.
That is due to the K-drama being beautifully written and acted, its plot’s twists and turns are actually surprising and getting more and more complicated and, while pretty dark, the cinematography is nicely done.
Only one episode of Doubt this week
With this weekend being just a one-episode of Doubt weekend due to Korea’s obsession with baseball canceling this Friday’s episode, the next episode of Doubt will air next Friday night, November 1st.
Doubt stars the exceptional main cast of Han Suk Kyu, Chae Won Bin, Han Ye Ri, and Oh Yeon Soo.
The Korean drama runs through November 15th.
For international viewers, it is streaming via Viki in select regions, and on KOCOWA in others.
