Tomokazu Sugita voicing 3 characters in Detectives These Days are Crazy! anime – Listen!

Not only does the upcoming anime Detectives These Days Are Crazy! look completely nuts (and very funny!), but this tidbit of information about one of its voice actors is even crazier.

Yep, according to the production company, the very talented VA Tomokazu Sugita (Rudy in Mushoku Tensei) will be voicing three of the four members of ‘The Big Four of Yabee Ojisan‘.

They are Rope Daisuki Ojisan, Chikubi Shishoku Ojisan, and Cross Munage Ojisan, with Tomokazu Sugita providing extremely different voices for each, as you can hear on the just released character trailer (watch below).

The fourth member, protagonist Keiichiro Nagumo, is voiced by Junichi Suwabe (Yami in Black Clover).

We also got character art featuring all four Yabee Ojisan showing off their body-building poses.

Because, sure, they might be getting up there in age, but they still have it. (Although we’re not quite sure what “it” is?).

Detectives These Days are Crazy! manga

The upcoming Detectives These Days are Crazy! anime series is based on the popular manga series まったく最近の探偵ときた, written and illustrated by mangaka Masakuni Igarashi.

The series has been serialized since 2016, with 15 printed volumes also now out in Japanese.

One Peace Books recently licensed the manga for the English speaking world, but it will be April 28th, 2025 before the first volume is out.

They explain the Detectives These Days are Crazy! plot like this:

Behold, a great detective who thrills the world solving impossible cases in no time! His name? Keiichiro Nagumo. …But all of that was over a decade ago. Now he’s just your typical middle-aged dude.

Nagumo is behind the times to the point that he doesn’t even know what a smartphone is.

But out of the blue, he is confronted by a high school girl named Mashiro who shows up wanting to be his assistant. Witness the miracles a gender-gap detective duo can make!

Detectives These Days are Crazy! will be Masakuni Igarashi’s second series to get an anime adaptation, as his Senryū Girl was also made into a 2019 TV anime.

As for latest adaptation, with no other staff members names released as yet, we do know Rion Kujo (The Legendary Hero is Dead) is directing the anime.

It is due to premiere some time in 2025.
