The official website for the upcoming Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms (aka Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsūjinai) anime just dropped a brand-new character promo video, and it comes packed with an exciting reveal.
That is the fifth female character now added to that cute visual we got way back in July, when it just featured Mona by herself.
The fifth promotional video introduces Kaori Maeda (Narsena in The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party, Is, in Fact, the Strongest) as Minami Shirahama – Asahi Shonan’s loyal and supportive best friend who is always there with sage advice, especially when it comes to matters of the heart.
If you’re already buzzing with excitement at this new, and very cute, Minami character trailer, here’s a rundown of the talented cast bringing this quirky rom-com to life who we’ve been introduced to already.

- Yū Serizawa voices the irresistible Mona Kawai, the cutest girl in school who knows exactly how to work her charm.
- Ryōta Iwasaki as the stoic and mysterious Medaka Kuroiwa, the seemingly unapproachable guy who’s the target of Mona’s persistent affections.
- Sora Amamiya plays Asahi Shonan, Mona’s spunky friend who’s always there to lend a hand in the pursuit of love.
- Kana Hanazawa as Tsubomi Haruno, a character whose story is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat
- Hinaki Yano voices Tomo Namba, another key figure in this colorful, and funny, love story.
A new key visual featuring all these characters, plus the newly arrived Minami Shirahama, is also now out via the anime’s website.
The Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms staff
The anime is being directed by Yoshiaki Okumura, known for his work on The Fruit of Evolution. Scripts are being penned by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, whose credits include By the Grace of the Gods and Dropkick on My Devil!, while character designs are in the capable hands of Mayumi Watanabe (Too Cute Crisis).
Animation studio Synergy SP (the currently airing Goodbye, Dragon Life) is in charge of animation production.
What’s the plot of Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms?
At the center of the series is Mona, the cutest girl at school, who is determined to win over Medaka Kuroiwa, a cold, stoic guy who seems totally immune to her charm. But Mona isn’t one to give up easily! Even if she is constantly being rebuffed.
Meanwhile, Medaka, raised in a temple with strict rules, is resolute in keeping his distance from women. After all, down that road quickly leads to hell.
What happens then when these two stubborn hearts collide in a battle of wills?
Will Mona’s relentless efforts finally break through Medaka’s icy exterior, or will the standoff continue until she finally gives in?
