As The Demon Hunter, Season 2 heads our way on December 6th, some donghua fans are frantically looking for where they can watch The Demon Hunter, Season 1 before it does.
Not only for any streaming platform hosting it either, but one that offers it both free and legally.
Thanks to YOUKU Animation, that is now easily possible as their YouTube channel has just uploaded a video (watch below) featuring Episodes 1 through 30 of the superb martial arts donghua in one full-season video.
All you need to do is make sure you have 7 hours, 54 minutes and 27 seconds available to watch it. (Believe me, it is so good, that time passes fast).
And to let the ads run now and again so YOUKU is likely to give us even more free full seasons like this going forward.
The 30 episodes in the YOUKU video, by the way, are all 26 episodes of Season 1, plus the four episodes that make up The Demon Hunter: Dongning Mansion special that was released about six months after the first season ended.
The Demon Hunter, Season 1 video also cuts out the opening theme/animation and the ending theme/animation for every episode after the first, so you don’t have to waste time fast-forwarding through 29 more of them.

The Demon Hunter, Season 1 full season video has obviously been released by the Chinese streaming platform to drum up interest in the upcoming Season 2.
Not that much interest needs to be drummed up as, animation, art style and design, character model, interesting characters and plot-wise, the first season of The Demon Hunter (aka Cang Yuan Tu) is one of the most interesting donghua out in quite a while.
If you’re new to the series, the donghua’s plot goes like this:
The story takes place in the Cang Yuan Realm, where demons and evil creatures wreak havoc, and the human race suffers great hardship.
The protagonist, Meng Chuan, swears an oath from a young age to avenge his mother who is killed by a horde of demons.
His journey to becoming all-powerful then begins at the Mirror Lake Dao Academy, where he relies on his unwavering determination and swift, decisive swordsmanship to punish the wicked, defeat the demon race, and rise to the top of the Four Great Dao Academies.
Along the way, he makes friends, even more enemies, and learns the world of cultivation may be far more corrupt than he ever imagined.
