Dylan Wang’s Live Long and Prosper – new poster and Song Qianji concept teaser video released
After we reported earlier this month that Dylan Wang’s new C-drama Live Long and Prosper had already kicked off filming, Hunan TV has just released a small update for the Chinese drama — a new poster (see below) and a short ‘Song Qianji Concept Teaser‘ video.
Song Qianji, of course, is the character Wang Hedi plays in the upcoming Hunan TV/Mango TV drama.
The teaser is nothing more than Dylan Wang practicing a few cool sword moves against a plain beige background.
In other frames, though, we see his silhouette dressed in traditional Chinese peasant clothing, and carrying a basket on his back while he peacefully farms his land.
Each version of Song Qianji shows off his life before his reincarnation (the sword wielding expert cultivator) and after reincarnation (the basket carrying peasant), when all he wants to do is live a peaceful life farming.
The trailer ends with Wang soaring into the air as the words ‘Live Long and Prosper‘ and ‘咸鱼飞升’ (Salted Fish Rising) appear in both Chinese and English.
The effect is simple, but very effective.
The plot of Live Long and Prosper
As for the plot of Wang’s new drama, Baidu Encyclopedia gives us this long and detailed synopsis:
In his past life, Song Qianji (played by Dylan Wang) lived consumed by relentless struggle. A lone cultivator with shattered spiritual roots, he had to be ruthless to others—and even more to himself—to avoid being trampled underfoot.
He slaughtered his way through the Thousand Canals Ancient Tomb, braved the Dead Sea Secret Realm eight times, and narrowly escaped death on nine occasions, all to ascend as a Divine Transformation powerhouse. But just as he reached the pinnacle of his life, the apocalypse loomed.
Desperate to save the world, Song Qianji scoured ancient texts and slaughtered through every secret realm until he found the treasure that could avert disaster.
Yet no one believed him—not even his beloved, who betrayed him at the critical hour, forcing him to self-destruct.
Reborn into a new life, Song Qianji vows to be a carefree slacker. But this time, the rare opportunities he once fought for now fall effortlessly into his lap.
He rejects lucrative offers from immortal sects, refuses to become the disciple of the Three Saints, and severs ties with the love of his past life—all to live a simple, peaceful life farming his land.
But in a world where immortal sects oppress the people and chaos reigns, how can one remain untouched?
With sects coveting his secrets, the Sky-Pillar Tree withering, and the enigmatic Phantom Physician emerging, someone must wield the sword of justice to slay demons and right wrongs.
And with loyal friends willing to follow him into life and death, even if it means sacrificing himself to uphold the Dao—this world is still worth fighting for.
There is still no word on when Live Long and Prosper will premiere (obviously, as Chinese platforms like to wait until the day before to let you know).
Along with Dylan Wang (Guardians of Dafeng), the C-drama’s cast includes Li Qin (Joy of Life), Rong Zi Shan (Sword Snow Stride), Wang Du (A League of Nobleman), Zhang Ya Qin (The Blossoming Love) and Xia Meng (Riverside Code at Qingming Festival).
