ENA’s Mother and Mom, Ep 4 earns highest ratings yet for Jeon Hye Jin and Jo Min Soo

The new ENA family drama Mother and Mom, Episode 4 aired last night to its highest ratings since its premiere on March 3rd, both nationally and with viewers in Seoul.

The Korean drama’s nationwide ratings, via Nielsen Korea, was 2.35 percent — up from the 1.85 percent for Episode 3. It is the ENA drama’s third ratings increase since its premiere.

Mother and Mom, Episode 4 also earned similar ratings in Seoul, grabbing 2.32 percent of the viewership, nicely up from Episode 3’s audience share of 1.79 percent.

A nicely written and funny family drama

Formerly known as Riding Life, Mother and Mom itself is nicely written and, of course, beautifully acted as it’s Jeon Hye Jin as a long-suffering mother with a husband she cannot count on, and Jo Min Soo as a grandmother who brought up her daughter (Jeon Hye Jin) as a single mother.

Meanwhile, Jung Jin Young is the English professor who suddenly meets Jo Min Soo, and whose boring life becomes more exciting because of it,  while Jun Suk Ho is Jeon Hye Jin’s immature husband.

Together, the four veteran actors create a very watchable and quite funny K-drama that is slightly reminiscent of another favorite, last year’s Not Others (also starring Jeon Hye Jin).

Unfortunately, it is impossible to find the ENA drama on legal streaming services in North America (come on ENA, do a better job with international licensing!), so do what you have to do to watch it.
