I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince, Episode 2 recap – Lloyd goes to a dungeon and meets Tao

I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability, Episode 2 recap has Lloyd increasing his magical powers

I Was Reincarnated as the Seventh Prince, Episode 2, titled “I Encountered an Adventurer“, opens with a young man who is obviously of royal birth being dressed by his servants.

We then see him walk through the palace to the library where Prince Lloyd and his familiar Grimoire are reading magic books.

When he arrives, Lloyd tells Grimoire to hide, and then happily greets him as “Big Brother Albert”.

In the next scene, we see Prince Albert take Lloyd to the shooting range where Lloyd watches his brother fire magic at targets, and hit them every time.

We then learn Albert is both physically strong and smart. He is also so popular, many people think he will become the next king.

Albert tells Lloyd he can also practice hitting the targets with his magical fireballs.

While he is happy to do so, Lloyd decides not to expend his true power as he doesn’t want people to know how strong he is and then find himself being pulled into a succession fight.

After all, Lloyd couldn’t care less about the throne. He just wants to hone his magic at any chance he gets.

That is why he makes his fireballs just accurate enough to graze the side of each target, but not hit them in the middle.

Albert and his retinue leave Lloyd at the shooting range, but not until one minister points out Lloyd isn’t very strong as he could only graze the signs.

Grimoire calls the man an idiot (in his own mind, at least), and points out (in his head) that the entire point is that Lloyd grazed every single target, which means his aim was deliberate. As well as very successful.

Lloyd destroys the shooting range with his magic and opens a hole in the sky

Once Albert has left, Lloyd becomes excited at the prospect of testing out his magic skills and, to do so, he uses magic that temporarily absorbs Grimoire into his own body so that the demon is just a talking face in the palm of his hand.

That way, he can use both Grimoire’s magic and his own to test out his skills.

But, when Albert begins casting the spell, while stacking the spells he is using, it is obvious to Grimoire this is a massive spell that could destroy everything around it.

When the spell goes off, we see an enormous column of light flying straight up into the air from the palace shooting range proving Lloyd’s power is truly immense.

That column of multi-colored light can also be seen by everyone in town.

Meanwhile, Albert is back in the palace enjoying a cup of tea, while the same annoying minister is asking him why he gives Lloyd so much attention as he is only a child, and not a very strong one at that.

Albert just smiles and tells the man he obviously has no talent to spot real magic as, if he did, he would have noticed Lloyd grazed every target with his fireball in exactly the same spot meaning it was all done deliberately.

That is why Albert believes Lloyd is a prodigy and, if he continues to improve his magic skills like he has been doing, could end up being Grand Sage one day.

He also knows, if he supports him, Lloyd will be a superb asset for him when he grows up.

As Albert finishes talking about his brother, the minister looks out of the window only to see it almost dark outside. He is confused, as he didn’t think it went dark so early.

We then switch back to Lloyd who has finished his combination spell, completely destroyed the shooting range and blown an enormous hole in the sky that, rather than a typical blue sky with white clouds, now shows a ripped apart sky with the dark heavens showing through.

Hence, the dark day.

Of course, Lloyd is ecstatic about his work, until he realizes what he has done and quickly puts the sky back to normal, leaving Grimoire to wonder who the hell is this kid?

Episode 2’s plot then takes a break for a short featuring Grimoire getting Lloyd into fresh clothes after his magic has worn him out.

Lloyd creates a body double and heads off to dungeon hunt

Back to the plot, and Lloyd and Grimoire are in the library where Grimoire is pointing out that Lloyd blowing a hole in the sky has made the local newspaper.

Lloyd, however, is more interested in another story about a group of adventurers that has cleared a dungeon and found rare treasures.

Of course, Lloyd immediately decides he wants to do the same, so sets about creating a body double so that he can leave the palace, while his duplicate takes his place.

The body double must be lifelike and able to move and speak properly, however, or his incredibly intelligent maid Sylpha will know Lloyd has escaped.

Seconds later, and Lloyd is flying through the air having left the palace.

Speaking to his hand, we then learn Lloyd has put Grimoire’s mind into the doll and his body into Lloyd’s own hand.

That way, Lloyd can keep an eye on his duplicate while he is gone, and Grimoire can fool any maids that come near the fake Lloyd.

As Lloyd is then hovering in the sky wondering how to find a dungeon, he sees a small girl running through a forest being chased by a group of huge orcs.

As he is wondering if he should help, the girls stops, turns on the orcs and destroys every single one of them by herself.

Lloyd descends to the top of a rock from where he can watch the girl.

He decides her annihilation of the monsters must be due to something called ‘Qi’, or a specific way of breathing that is taught in some foreign countries.

That ability allows her to channel energy through her body and, thus, achieve amazing power when she fights.

As he is wondering how to learn Qi himself, the girl looks up at the rock and shouts for him to show himself.

Yes, her Qi allows her to detect possible enemies as well.

But, as Grimoire warns him he can’t show himself right now as she would immediately know he is the seventh prince, Lloyd hesitates.

At that, the girl decides he must be an enemy and jumps up to the summit of the rock to confront him.

Lloyd meets Tao and goes adventuring in a dungeon

What she finds there, though, is an older boy around her age called “Robert. A boy who explains he is a rooky adventurer. And, a boy who Lloyd has just become by combining his own looks with those of his brother Albert as a disguise.

As you might expect, as he is handsome and around her age, the girl immediately falls in love.

The girl calmly introduces herself as Tao, a B-class adventurer, and a martial artist. In her head, however, she is screaming about how hot Lloyd is and how he may just be the husband material she left the dojo hoping to meet.

She decides there and then this hottie will become her boyfriend.

Lloyd, however, begins to walk away presuming she isn’t interested in heading to a dungeon together. Tao immediately snaps to attention, and agrees to go with him.

Once in a dungeon, Tao destroys any monster that comes near them while also pointing out to Lloyd how strong she is.

But while she is wondering if “Robert” has noticed how strong she is, Lloyd is already distracted collecting shiny crystals. Yep, he is still too young for love.

Deeper in the dungeon, they stop for a meal and Lloyd asks her about using Qi, and she explains how it works.

As you might expect, within minutes, Lloyd has almost mastered the use of Qi, with Tao telling him to keep using it as they head further into the dungeon.

Back at the palace, body double Lloyd is still fooling the maids, until Sylpha suddenly appears and shocks him.

I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince, Episode 2 ends with Tao and Lloyd defeating the dungeon’s final boss, a Greywolf, and discovering a treasure chest.

But, when Tao attempts to open it, Lloyd pulls her to one side as fast as lightning as a huge blade shoots out from the chest. A blade that would have sliced Tao in two if Lloyd had not acted so quickly.

It is then that an enormous lich emerges from the chest as, no, the Greywolf was not the final boss, the Lich is. And it is terrifying.

I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince, Episode 2 does a great job developing both the plot and Lloyd’s character.

We also learn he has a close relationship with one of his older brothers, and that his magic skills may just be even more powerful than even we could have imagined.
