L²Studio is one of the older modern Chinese animation studios, having been founded back in February, 2013 by directors Lu Hengyu and Li Shujie.
Also known as Chengdu Al Square Culture Communication Co., Ltd., and 艾尔平方; 卢恒宇和李姝洁工作室, according to the family-owned company itself (see website link below), it currently has more than 100 small partners and concentrates on two product lines of properties created by both 2D-animation and 3D-animation.
Their original aim when the studio was founded was “to tell every story with care”. With what they have released so far, it appears they are succeeding.
Since the establishing of L²Studio, the company has created several very popular donghua series with a couple of them even being licensed by Netflix or Amazon Prime for worldwide distribution.
According to Chinese Wikipedia, founder Lu Hengyu’s ultimate goal is to earn an Academy Award for animation.
