Law and the City EP5 earns BEST Saturday rating so far – international ratings still ridiculously skewed
tvN Saturday/Sunday drama Law and the City, Episode 5 earned its highest Saturday rating last night. This after its previous Saturday rating was the lowest rating of the K-drama’s run so far.
Data via Nielsen Korea shows Law and the City, Episode 5 grabbed 5.38 percent of the nationwide viewership — which was substantially up from last Saturday’s audience share of 4.41 percent.
The legal drama performed even better with audiences in Seoul, where it accumulated 5.74 percent of that region’s viewers — which, again, was a marked improvement over last Saturday’s all-time low of 4.56 percent.
With the Korean drama’s Sunday episode having earned higher ratings than its Saturday episode ever since it premiered on July 5th, that also likely means Law and the City, Episode 6 will probably earn the show’s highest ever ratings tonight.
Bizarre international ratings for Law and the City continue
Weirdly, the Korean drama’s ridiculous ratings internationally continue into the third week of its airing.
And I say ridiculous ratings, as almost 1,400 users of My Drama List (MDL) are still rating Law and the City a stupidly low 7.8 out of 10 (so many trolls on that site, it’s amazing the site administrators refuse to stop it), while over on Viki, where the drama is actually streaming, 2,250 users are rating it a 9.4 out of 10.
Yes, the Viki rating is too high, but yes, the MDL rating is also markedly unbelievable so, if I had to pick one, I would say believe the rating for Law and the City, as it is far more accurate than the one being given by the usual MDL trolls.
Law and the City stars the excellent ensemble lead cast of Lee Jong Suk, Moon Ga Young, Kang You Seok, Ryu Hye Young, and Im Seong Jae.
Each episode is well-written, beautifully acted, and gives the viewer an insight into the actual running of a legal firm while mixing in both seriousness and some genuinely funny comedic moments.
The main cast is also absolutely stellar, with Lee Jong Suk, who hasn’t appeared in a K-drama since 2022’s Big Mouth seeming to be in his element in his role here.
Lee Jong Suk turns down drama from ‘Goblin’ director due to “scheduling conflicts”
In other words, and again, stop believing ratings on My Drama List as, where any ratings are concerned (good and bad), the platform has to be one of the most disingenuous ones out there.
Episode 6 of Law and the City hits later on tonight. Now let’s see if my prediction of it grabbing all-time high ratings comes true, eh?
