Moonlit Reunion character visuals drop for Xu Kai, Tian Xi Wei, Wang Jia Yi and others as C-drama wraps filming

With the wuxia fantasy drama Moonlit Reunion (子夜归) wrapping up its filming today, it’s not too much of a surprise to suddenly also get nine Moonlit Reunion character visuals dropping.

Well, not a surprise, but certainly very welcome as, not only is the cast for Moonlit Reunion pretty stellar as fantasy romance dramas go, it appears the C-drama also features some stunning costumes and backdrops. (Look at the bodice of Tian Xi Wei’s dress and her hair ornaments below. Gorgeous, right?)

Production details for Moonlit Reunion

Filming for Moonlit Reunion kicked off on January 2nd, 2024 at Hengdian Film and Television City, and went through today, May 14th, 2024.

That cast, by the way, is Xu Kai (Snow Eagle Lord) and Tian Xi Wei (Wrong Carriage Right Groom) as the main leads, with Wang Jia Yi (Full River Red), Wu Jun Ting (The Unexpected Marriage), Yi Da Qian (The Princess Royal), Fan Shi Ran (Derailment), Lai Wei Ming (Fangs of Fortune), and Lu Xing (Heroes) in supporting roles.

I am also excited for this one to drop (although, of course, it will be at least mid to late 2025 before it does) as it’s directed by The Double‘s director Lu Hao Ji.

Moonlit Reunion is adapted from the novel “Mei Fu Ren Chong Fu Ri Chang” (梅夫人宠夫日常 aka Mrs Mei Dotes on Her Husband Every Day), which was written by Fu Hua (扶华).

Plot-wise too, it sounds interesting, as it’s one of those stories where a couple seems to be one thing during the day, and something entirely different when it goes dark. And yeah, I’m a sucker for those.

Baidu describes the story in this way:

Beneath the serene facade of Chang’an, a shadowy world thrives. Proud noblemen and reckless heiresses lead double lives—by day, they are merry lovers; by night, they wage deadly battles.

All to guard the city’s peace and ensure an era of prosperity.
