No Longer Allowed in Another World creditless ending animation has Dazai heading off to his suicide

While I have not yet dropped new isekai anime No Longer Allowed in Another World, it is currently my biggest disappointment of the Summer, 2024 season.

An anime that follows the life of author Osamu Dazai after he attempts to commit suicide and, instead of in real-life Japan where Dazai actually died, reincarnates in a high-fantasy world with a second chance at life.

A new life he doesn’t actually want.

While that premise appeared intriguing when No Longer Allowed in Another World was first touted, its implementation has been disappointing so far with the anime turning out to be not as funny as expected, and with cardboard cut-out characters that are more and more annoying with each new episode.

That being said, the No Longer Allowed in Another World art style is quite nice, and is one of the few things causing me to stick with the anime.

For now.

That art style appears nicely in the just released No Longer Allowed in Another World creditless ending animation.

An ending animation that includes another reason why I am still watching the anime — its lovely ending theme song Mayu Maeshima’s ‘Sayonara, Subarashiki Sekai yo‘.

And an ending animation that draws to a conclusion with Osamu Dazai walking out of his house into a rain-soaked day on his way to commit suicide — his hand reaching for an umbrella, then changing his mind.

As who cares if you’re wet once you’re dead.

And an animation that ends with the door to Dazai’s house sliding closed to reveal the shadowy figure of a woman standing alongside him.

In real life, his girlfriend Tomie Yamazaki who committed suicide with him in June, 1948 — and in No Longer Allowed in Another World, Dazai’s girlfriend and a woman he calls “Sacchan”.

Watch the just-released No Longer Allowed in Another World ending animation below, and take a note of that quite sad ending shot.

The anime is directed by Shigeki Kawai with Yasuhiro Nakanishi in charge of the series composition, and both Tomoshige Inayoshi and Asako Inayoshi as character designers.

Atelier Pontdarc is producing the anime series.

No Longer Allowed in Another World is now streaming on Crunchyroll.
