Upcoming action fantasy isekai anime Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse finally has a premiere date, and it’s not too long in the future.
That premiere date of July 2nd arrived earlier today via the Onmyo Kaiten X account, along with a new trailer and four new cast members.
The trailer, which you can watch down below, came with the short message:
The unpredictable battle of Yin and Yang begins this summer!
The new PV shows the onmyoji that the main character Takeru meets.
An onmyoji, by the way, is a spellcaster.
Along with the latest trailer — which does give you a quick reintroduction to Takeru and how he first met Tsukimiya — four new cast members and their characters were also announced.
New Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse cast members
The latest cast members to be announced join previously named Taihi Kimura (Rengo in Flower and Asura) who plays Takeru Narihira, Maaya Uchida (Tsukiko in Sengoku Youko) who is Tsukimiya, and Ryohei Kimura (Shinsuke in Sengoku Youko) as Abeno Seimei.

Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse production details
The upcoming original anime was first announced back in March so, with a July premiere date, things are moving quickly.
The isekai anime is being directed by original creator Hideya Takahashi (Urusei Yatsura), with Hayashi Mori (Cells at Work! CODE BLACK!) in charge of series composition, and Kazuaki Morita (My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog) designing the characters.
David Production (Undead Unluck and Fire Force) is animating the series. It is the first original anime the Japanese studio has been involved in creating, so you just know their staff must be psyched.
The original story also has a manga adaptation out in Japan.
The anime’s plot created by the aforementioned Hideya Takahashi goes like this (via the anime’s website):
Takeru Narihira, a delinquent high school student who spends his days fighting alone in solitude—without befriending anyone—has been harboring growing feelings for a mysterious girl named Tsukimiya, who frequently appears in his dreams.
One day, Takeru accidentally falls off a cliff in an unforeseen accident. When he regains consciousness, he finds himself in a highly advanced technological version of Heian-kyo—“Denji Heian-kyo”—a parallel world guarded by the strongest onmyōji, Abe no Seimei, and where his long-admired Tsukimiya truly exists!
Overjoyed by this fateful encounter he had only dreamed of, Takeru’s excitement is short-lived when a sudden black mist called “Yamikaoru” engulfs them, and monstrous beings known as “Onibito” kill both him and Tsukimiya.
—Yet, the next moment, Takeru awakens once again in Denji Heian-kyo.
Realizing he has time-leaped, Takeru resolves to defy the future where Tsukimiya dies. To do so, he decides to train under Abe no Seimei, master the arts of onmyōjutsu, and fight as an onmyōji!
Check out the latest Onmyo Kaiten trailer below — the art style is beautiful, the animation seems incredibly fluid and the plot, while initially slightly similar to Re:Zero, actually looks like it may be quite unique.
The first episode of Onmyo Kaiten will hit Crunchyroll in early July internationally.
