The talented South Korean actor Rowoon is apparently reviewing an offer to star as the main male lead in the upcoming historical drama Takryu (direct translation).

According to Newsen, his agency FNC Entertainment confirmed Takryu was one of the projects the 26-year-old actor was considering.

The drama was written by Chun Sung-il, the screenwriter also known for two previous historical projects — the drama The Slave Hunters, and the historical movie The Pirates.

The series will be directed by Kwak Jung Hwan, the director of The Slave Hunters, but also known for directing Local Hero, Miss Hammurabi and both seasons of Chief of Staff.

No word yet, though, on when Takryu will start filming, or what its English title will eventually be.

If Rowoon does accept the main role in Takryu, it will be his third upcoming drama series, with confirmations of him already starring in Destined With You co-starring Jo Bo Ah, and in The Battle of Marriage alongside Cho Yi Hyun.

In the past, the Korean actor and member of popular K-pop boy band SF9 has starred in another historical drama The King’s Affection, as well as in the dramas She Would Never Know and Tomorrow.

He performed in his first leading role via the MBC drama Extraordinary You in 2019.

Not just a pretty face, Rowoon has also won several acting awards, including three at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards for his last historical project The King’s Affection.

So yep, it seems like Rowoon could be a great choice for Takryu.

Now check out a clip of Rowoon starring as Jung Ji Woon in The King’s Affection to remind yourself of what a great performance he gave in that historical piece.
