All three were released via the anime’s official X account.

The anime premieres on June 28th, 2025 with the longer-than-normal 2-minute trailer giving us a glimpse into the sad world of Shizuka Kuze.

A little girl who has no friends and who is bullied on a daily basis, while her father is absent and her mother is always at work. But also a girl who now has a new friend called Takopi.

New Takopi’s Original Sin visual

Along with the latest trailer, we also got a vibrant but quite sad and somewhat creepy visual that has Shizuka and her new friend Takopi, a small pink alien who looks like an octopus, sitting in front of a pile of cement pipes while Marina, the girl who incessantly bullies her, sits on top staring down.

Finishing off the trio of children is Naoki Azuma, a classmate of the two girls, and a sad boy who desperately curries favor so he has a chance of being liked.

None of the children in the visual look particularly happy, which tells you a lot about the direction this anime will likely go in.

Production details for Takopi’s Original Sin

The anime is adapted from the original short manga series of the same name (タコピーの原罪) written and illustrated by Taizan 5.

Shinya Iino (Dr. Stone) is directing the anime and is also in charge of series composition. Keita Nagahara is designing the characters.

Animation is being carried out by Studio ENISHIYA (Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf).

The tear-jerker Takopi’s Original Sin plot looks like this:

Takopi, a happy alien, descends to Earth to spread happiness.

He runs around trying to bring back the smile of Shizuka, the girl who helped him, but the environment surrounding the girl is brutal.

It was something the innocent Takopi could never have imagined.

Because of this, what crime will Takopi commit, the alien who just wanted people to smile…?

Takopi’s Original Sin will start streaming on June 28th on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or ABEMA, depending on where you live.
