The latest ratings for the ongoing Korean romance drama The Midnight Romance in Hagwon are out and, as I expected, they were substantially higher than the show earned for its Saturday night episode.
Data via Nielsen Korea shows The Midnight Romance in Hagwon, Episode 6 grabbing a nationwide audience share of 4.89 percent, which is nicely up from Saturday night’s rating of 4.23 percent.
Things looked even better for the tvN drama in Seoul, as it earned 5.74 percent of the viewership on Sunday night — which was also an increase from Episode 5’s already solid 5.26 percent rating.
International ratings for The Midnight Romance in Hagwon are mixed
Sadly, the K-drama’s rating from international viewers continues to fall on My Drama List, where it started out at an 8.1 out of 10 when the series premiered.
After this weekend’s episodes, however, The Midnight Romance in Hagwon has fallen to a lower 7.9 out of 10, with the people leaving negative comments saying they feel the show is just too slow moving to hold their attention.
Chances are, though, the ones commenting negatively have either not watched Episode 6 yet, or have already dropped the drama, as you can’t say that romance we finally got last night was slow moving or dull, right?
Meanwhile, viewers on Viki, who seem to be much more patient than those on My Drama List, are currently rating it a very high 9.3 out of 10.
So, yep, the international ratings could be called “mixed”.
The Midnight Romance in Hagwon stars Jung Ryeo Won and Wi Ha Joon.
The Korean drama’s next episode will air on Saturday, June 1st.
