While a new Vampire Dormitory English dub trailer has not been released (so annoying!), both the Vampire Dormitory English dub cast and the release date for the Vampire Dormitory English dub itself has been announced today.
First, the English dub release date — and that would be later on today, April 22nd, 2024, via Crunchyroll.
Then the anime’s English dub cast, and they are:
Nia Celeste (Liz in The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil) is voicing Mito
Nick Huber (Hayato in Classroom of the Elite) plays Ren
Comona Lewin (Saria in The Fruit of Evolution) is playing Ruka
Bradley Gareth (Akemitsu in Temple) is Komori
Matt Shipman (Tsubasa in Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!) voices Takara
Lexi Nieto (Tomo in Tomo-chan Is a Girl!) is playing Juri
As for ADR Director, that’s Helena Walstrom.
No, the Vampire Dormitory English dub cast doesn’t feature any of the voice acting world’s heavy hitters but, it’s an English dub release, and should be pretty decent.
The Vampire Dormitory anime is low-rated
The original Japanese-language anime Vampire Dormitory premiered on April 7th.
It is currently one of the lowest-rated anime series for the Spring, 2024 season on My Anime List with a low score of just 6.25 out of 10 and viewers calling it a “Boys’ Love” anime before anything else but, honestly, it’s not that bad.
Just don’t go into it expecting to see masculine guys you’ll fall in love with, as most of them seem to spend half their time blushing around each other rather than around cross-dressing girl Ruka.
That being said, the first two episodes are fast-paced and entertaining enough, and the art style is pretty.
The Vampire Dormitory manga
The ongoing Vampire Dormitory anime series is based on the manga series by Ema Toyama, which has 13 volumes out in Japanese.
Kodansha USA is publishing the manga in English, although they have been very very slow getting new volumes out, with over a year’s gap between Volume 10 and Volume 11, which comes out in May, 2024, and no sign of Volumes 12 and 13.
They describe the manga’s plot like this:
For Mito, being the thrall of a vampire is the least of her worries. Mito’s lived life on the streets since she graduated from middle school, dressing as a boy to stay safe. She’s managed to eke out a grungy, friendless existence, but when a handsome vampire, Ruka, rescues her from sure-death, he makes her an offer that sounds too good to be true: become his subservient thrall from which he can feed whenever he wants, and she can live with him—in the boys’ dorm.
Because her very existence depends on her secret not being found out, every day is a new danger—to say nothing of what living with a vampire could mean!
Ruka, not knowing Mito’s a girl, dotes on her night and day in an attempt to ripen her “disgusting male blood,” but the closer he gets to her, the more likely her secret could get out.
Yep, the story is a little silly but, like I said, still entertaining.
Watch the Vampire Dormitory trailer to see if it might be your cup of (tea?), and check out its English dub on Crunchyroll later on today.
