If you are as big a fan of the Chinese video game-themed donghua The King’s Avatar as I am, you may want to keep an eye out for the upcoming Wealth and Wonder, which is another YOUKU-produced donghua that is due out some time in 2025.
And I’m specifically mentioning The King’s Avatar (watch on Tencent’s WeTV), as Wealth and Wonder (aka Gold Player) also takes place in a world obsessed with a video game — but this time a virtual reality game called Epoch.
The video game-themed donghua already has a trailer out, and it shows Chu Yi talking about how he has spent 30 billion yuan to improve his chances in the game.
We then see Chu Yi as his in-game character talking about the amazing luck he had when he set up his character, followed by a cute female character who asks him how much he spent.
Then when he tells her the amount, she comments “That’s why your luck was so good”.
In other words, he paid for advantages hardly anyone else could afford.

The Wealth and Wonder trailer ends with Chu Yi and his party gearing up to fight, followed by some pretty epic in-game battle scenes.
What is the Wealth and Wonder plot?
According to YOUKU, the plot looks like this:
In the future, the virtual game “Epoch”, which was developed by the Chu Group has attracted the world’s attention because of its perfect immersive experience. However, on the eve of the game’s official launch, the developers of the game, Mr. and Mrs. Chu, have strangely disappeared.
In order to find the clues to his parents’ whereabouts, their wealthy son Chu Yi enters the game with 30 billion worth of in-game currency, and under the guidance of a humanoid AI.
Once in-game, Chu Yi gathers a group of members to his team and, after several false starts, finally discovers that his parents’ disappearance and a mysterious organization are strangely related.
This sets Chu Yi off on a journey not only to find and rescue his parents, but also one that culminates in an epic fight of good versus evil.
Wealth and Wonder is animated by Qingxiang Culture Animation (World of Immortals), and is a YOUKU exclusive.
We will keep you updated here at Leo Sigh as to the exact date it will premiere.
Until then, check out the first Wealth and Wonder trailer as, if you’re a gamer or just love watching video games being played, this looks like it may be one to watch.
