In no surprise to anyone, When the Phone Rings, Episode 12 ended the Korean drama’s 12 episode run last night with its highest ever nationwide rating.
Nielsen Korea’s data shows When the Phone Rings, Episode 12 grabbed 8.6 percent — which is a slight increase from its previous episode’s all-time high rating of 8.3 percent.
In Seoul, however, the Korean drama’s ratings saw a tiny drop for its series finale, falling from Episode 11’s viewership of 8.8 percent to last night’s 8.5 percent.
Both ratings were still stellar, however, and contributed to the popular Korean drama earning very solid average ratings of 6.54 percent nationwide and 6.34 percent in Seoul per episode.
MBC Drama Awards
It was also a superb night for When the Phone Rings during the MBC Drama Awards, which took place on December 30th and was broadcast on South Korean TV last night.
During the awards ceremony, male lead Yoo Yeon Seok was given the Top Excellence Award, Actor in a Miniseries while his co-star Chae Soo Bin earned the Excellence Award, Actress in a Miniseries,
Actor Heo Nam Joon, who made his acting debut in 2019, was also given the Best New Actor award, while Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin were also awarded the Best Couple Award.
A very nice night indeed for the MBC drama’s actors.
When the Phone Rings on Netflix
As for the K-drama’s performance on Netflix, we now have to wait until Tuesday when the latest data is released to find out if When the Phone Rings will appear on that platform’s Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart for its seventh week.
Considering the Korean drama is currently sitting at #4, and has been on the chart since the week it premiered, it is highly likely it will still be on the chart for its final week as well.
When the Phone Rings stars Chae Soo Bin and Yoo Yeon Seok as main leads, alongside Heo Nam Joon, and Jang Gyu Ri.
All 12 episodes of the K0rean mystery thriller are now streaming on Netflix.
