When the Phone Rings, Ep 5 restarts K-drama’s airing to mixed ratings

After an absence last weekend with no episodes airing, When the Phone Rings, Episode 5 restarted the Korean drama’s airing last night to mixed ratings.

According to Nielsen Korea, those ratings were 5.9 percent on Friday night nationwide versus Episode 4’s audience share of 5.7 percent.

In other words, a welcome nationwide ratings rise for a Korean drama whose audience had to sit around last weekend twiddling their thumbs due to program cancellations because of the ongoing political problems in the Asian country.

Ratings for When the Phone Rings, Episode 5 in Seoul fall

In Seoul, however, When the Phone Rings, Episode 5 performed worse than its previous episode last night, dropping from last week’s 6.0 percent to this week’s 5.3 percent.

Something that does, sadly, happen when a K-drama’s airing schedule becomes erratic.

Luckily, even though other channels are cancelling their drama’s tonight due to yet another impeachment vote against President Yoon Suk Yeol (Latest news: he just lost the vote, and was impeached), When the Phone Rings, Episode 6 will be going ahead as scheduled.

Let’s see how the K-drama’s ratings pan out then, eh?

When the Phone Rings stars Yoo Yeon SeokChae Soo Bin, Heo Nam Joon, and Jang Gyu Ri.

It airs every Friday and Saturday evening on MBC TV, and is currently scheduled to do so through January 4th, 2025.

The Korean drama is also currently #2 on the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart, so internationally it also seems to be loved.
