The popular delinquent-themed anime series Wind Breaker has been officially greenlit for a second season, much to the delight of fans worldwide. (Including myself as, let’s face it, the CloverWorks-produced anime is easily one of the best of Spring, 2024).
The Season 2 announcement came shortly after the airing of the first season’s finale yesterday (Episode 13), and also confirming that the series will continue its story some time in 2025.
Wind Breaker, an anime adaptation of the manga by Satoru Nii, has been praised for its unique take on the delinquent school genre, focusing on the journey of Haruka Sakura, a first-year student at Furin High School who is determined to fight his way to the top.
The first season, directed by Toshifumi Akai (Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front – Babylonia), written by Hiroshi Seko (Chainsaw Man) and produced by CloverWorks, was well-received for its intense action sequences and compelling narrative.

The second season is set to continue where the first left off (could have done without that cliffhanger yesterday, though, couldn’t you?), promising more of the high-stakes battles, and excellent character development, that fans have come to love.
Wind Breaker manga
Wind Breaker has not only been a hit in Japan but has also garnered a significant international following, thanks to its availability on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll.
The series’ success has also led to increased interest in the original manga, which continues to be published in Kodansha’s “Magazine Pocket” in Japan, and with Kodansha publishing it in digital and physical copies in the west.
They explain the Wind Breaker plot like this:
Haruka Sakura wants nothing to do with weaklings—he’s only interested in the strongest of the strong. He’s from Fuurin High School, a school of near-dropout degenerates known only for their brawling strength.
And in a town known for its territorial disputes, Haruka’s got only one goal—become the hero his town deserves.
With the second season on the horizon then, fans have much to look forward to, as the continuation of the Wind Breaker story is sure to bring more thrilling action, and deeper exploration of its fascinating world.
Details about the upcoming season are still scarce, but we will keep you updated here on Leo Sigh as more information is released.
