Supernatural Kdrama Light Shop poster hints at strange customers owner Ju Ji Hoon meets

The upcoming Korean drama Light Shop has released a new poster featuring shopkeeper Jung Won Yeong (played by Ju Ji Hoon) as he stands outside his shop watching his customers walk away in the distance.

Across the alleyway, a bright light can be seen as if it is an old-fashioned light bulb filament lighting his customers’ way, with the poster giving off a creepy but also quite sad feel.

The Disney+ exclusive Kdrama is due to premiere in December so, of course, the new Light Shop poster (see full poster below) should be just one of several promo pieces we get.

The drama, by the way, tells the story of a strange lamp shop located at the end of a dark alley.

The shop never closes, while its owner sits there waiting for customers.

Customers, some of whom are your regular everyday people who just need a light bulb or a new lamp, while others are strange.

So strange it would be better for you, the owner warns, if you notice their strangeness just to pretend you didn’t see anything unusual and then go about the rest of your day.

Light Shop details

The Disney+ drama titled 조명가게 in Korean is based on the popular Shop of the Lamp webtoon written and illustrated by Kang Full.

Light Shop is being produced and directed by actor Kim Hee Won (Moving) in his directorial debut.

The Korean drama features an absolutely massive cast of some of the country’s biggest stars.

Its headed by Ju Ji Hoon (Kingdom) alongside Park Bo Young (Daily Dose of Sunshine), Bae Sung Woo (The 8 Show), Uhm Tae Goo (My Sweet Mobster), Kim Seol Hyun (The Killer’s Shopping List), Lee Jung Eun (Miss Night and Day), Kim Min Ha (Pachinko), Park Hyuk Kwon (Uncle Samsik), Kim Dae Myung (Hospital Playlist), Shin Eun Soo (Twinkling Watermelon), Kim Seon Hwa (Behind Your Touch) and Kim Ki Hae (Duty After School).

If you have read the webtoon as I have, you will know the role of the shopkeeper is a departure for Ju Ji Hoon from the usual roles he plays, which definitely makes this Korean drama intriguing.

As several of the main cast will likely be playing some of the drama’s “unusual customers”, that also makes this a must watch for me.

The 8-episode Light Shop premieres on December 4th, when the first four episodes will stream.

Two more episodes will then premiere for each of the next two weeks.
