As the July 9th premiere of the anime draws closer, there is a new The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies trailer out today.
The cute new trailer shows the second Mira, the leader of an evil organization, vows to kill magical girl Byakuya Mimori (aka Glass Happiness), then meets her and immediately falls in love.
We then see Byakuya realizing she may just be sharing the same feelings he is, as she can’t stop thinking about him.
After all, even though he is the head of an evil organization, he is just so darned kind to her.
The pair then wonder how they are going to be able to navigate this relationship properly when their mission in life is supposed to be to kill the other one?
Along with the quirky never before seen footage, the trailer also shows off the anime’s lovely art style, and appears to offer a show that is as hilarious as it is sweet. (Very much shades of Mr. Villain’s Day Off, I would say).
The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies opening theme song
The upcoming fantasy rom-com trailer also features the anime’s opening theme song –– Mikansei Rendezvous performed by Lezel.
A song that, at least from the snippet we heard, sounds like it is upbeat and very catchy.
The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies anime is based on the manga by the late Cocoa Fujiwara.
The series is being directed by Akiyo Oohashi (Given – On the Other Hand), with series composition by Yuniko Ayana (Given), and character designs by Haruko Iizuka (Sugar Apple Fairy Tale).
Studio Bones (My Hero Academia) is in charge of anime production.
Yen Press will be publishing the manga in English, with its first volume due out in August.
The American publisher explains The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant… plot like this:
She’s a magical girl, sworn to fight for peace, love, and justice. He’s a lieutenant, born into a military family that serves an evil empire. And yet, it was love at first sight… From Inu x Boku SS creator Cocoa Fujiwara comes a four-panel comic about hostile enemies who won’t kill (and love) each other!
My only disappointment with this one is, as mangaka Cocoa Fujiwara sadly died at a young age a few years ago, it is likely this will be the only anime season of this wonderful looking rom-com that we get.
And that she herself didn’t live long enough to see it.
Watch the just-released The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies trailer below, then tell me that doesn’t look wonderful!!!
