Our Movie EP 1 premieres to lowest ratings for SBS Fri/Sat drama in 2025 – international viewers rating it high

Now, I have to admit, the latest Namkoong Min drama Our Movie looks interesting, but it will be one I avoid due to its depressing subject matter.

It also appears others may have the same concern as me as, in South Korea at least, the Korean drama premiered on Friday night to the lowest ratings an SBS Friday/Saturday drama has earned this year for a first episode.

Those ratings for Our Movie, Episode 1 on Friday night were 4.2 percent nationwide, and 4.5 percent in Seoul.

Compared to Episode 1 ratings for Love Scout (5.2 percent and 4.9 percent), Buried Hearts (6.1 percent and 6.0 percent) and The Haunted Palace (9.2 percent in both regions), those ratings are quite low.

Meanwhile, the drama airing directly opposite Our Movie — MBC’s Oh My Ghost Clients — almost doubled its rating from the previous week.

That being said, there are 11 more episodes of Our Movie to air, and it does star the very popular Namkoong Min, so let’s see how it’s ratings perform for its second episode later on tonight.

International viewers’ reaction to Our Movie, Episode 1

Meanwhile, international viewers using My Drama List seem to be overwhelmingly enjoying Our Movie. Although several do admit it will probably be the most depressing show of 2025.

Its rating on that site is a solid 8.4 out of 10 so far — an excellent rating from users of MDL, who tend to err on the low side. Especially with first episodes.
