Queen Mantis Ep 3 earns highest ratings in Korea while international ratings are solid so far

The ongoing Korean police procedural drama Queen Mantis, Episode 3 aired on Friday night to the K-drama’s highest ratings so far.

According to Nielsen Korea, Queen Mantis, Episode 3 garnered 7.3 percent of the nationwide viewership last night.

That is a solid increase from the 6.9 percent the SBS crime thriller earned last Saturday, and one that made the drama the 3rd most-watched series on Friday.

Conversely, however, in Seoul, Queen Mantis saw a small drop in ratings — down from Episode 2’s 7.3 percent to last night’s 7.0 percent — still an excellent rating though.

International ratings for Queen Mantis

Interestingly, the Korean drama is currently performing quite well in the ratings on My Drama List (MDL).

And I say interestingly, as a huge percentage of dramas on MDL, Korean and otherwise, are often given very low ratings when they first begin airing due to haters deliberately downrating a drama that, often, they are not even watching.

In the case of Queen Mantis, however, with a current 8.0 out of 10 on the site, that is a solid rating, and one that is likely to increase as the drama’s planned eight episodes continue to drop.

Over on IMDB, however, the K-drama is performing worse with a current 7.8 out of 10, while on Viki, where Queen Mantis is streaming, it is grabbing a very high 9.5 out of 10 via more than 200 viewers.

As Viki has the opposite problem from My Drama List — ratings that are often artificially manipulated in a positive direction — I would take that 9.5 with a grain of salt if I was you.

Queen Mantis stars Go Hyun Jung and Jang Dong Yoon, with its fourth episode having just been released on Viki and on other sites streaming the Korean drama.

Let’s see how it performs in the ratings in South Korea when Nielsen Korea releases the data later on today then, eh?
