If you read my article on Japanese singer Aimer‘s release of ‘Zankyo Sanka‘ — the OP for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc — you will probably remember I wasn’t a gigantic fan.
Of the song or the video, as I felt it was dull, overproduced and lacked the power I felt such a massive hit anime required for its opening song.
But, Aimer’s release of ‘Asa ga Kuru’ (Morning is Coming) — the ending theme for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc is a different matter.
Because Aimer’s ‘Asa ga Kuru‘ is huge, dramatic, powerful and magnificent, and an incredibly complicated song both musically and vocally.
Everything the anime’s OP lacked.
The ‘Asa ga Kuru‘ music video is also wonderful, with its dramatically filmed darkened scenes, mysterious swirling figures and its feeling of menace yet also of hope.
Aimer’s ‘Asa ga Kuru’ was composed and produced by Yuki Kajiura who, along with Go Shiina, is responsible for much of the anime’s soundtrack music.
The ‘Asa ga Kuru‘ music video was co-directed by Takahiro Miki and Hidejin Kato.
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc ending theme and the opening theme song ‘Zankyo Sanka‘ will be the two songs that make up Aimer’s 20th CD single release.
It will be out in Japan this Wednesday, January 12th.
Until then watch Aimer’s ‘Asa ga Kuru‘ music video, and watch it several times. As, like every video Aimer releases, there is so much you will miss on just one play through.
