Dear Hyeri Ep 8 earns all-time high rating as Dong Jae, The Good or the Bastard sees a drop

Dear Hyeri expands its reach

The ongoing South Korean drama Dear Hyeri, Episode 8 aired last night to a personal all-time high in its ratings.

That high occurred from both nationwide audiences and those in Seoul.

Nationwide, Dear Hyeri, Episode 8 earned 3.499 percent of the viewership, which is slightly higher than the previous ratings high it earned for Episode 6 (3.493 percent).

Yep, only slightly. But it does convert into several thousand homes. So there’s that.

The Shin Hye Sun/Lee Jin Wook-led K-drama earned its best rating with audiences in Seoul where it grabbed 4.11 percent of the audience share — a decent increase from its previous high of 3.82 percent for Episode 6.

With just four episodes left to air then, Dear Hyeri is setting itself up for a decent final run.

Dong Jae, The Good or the Bastard sees ratings drop for its second episode

Meanwhile, things didn’t go as well for new tvN drama Dong Jae, The Good or the Bastard last night, as it saw a ratings drop versus its first episode, which premiered with strong ratings the night before.

That drop nationwide was from Monday night’s 3.76 percent for Episode 1 to 2.88 percent on Tuesday night for Dong Jae, The Good or the Bastard, Episode 2.

The Korean drama also earned a similar drop from audiences in Seoul, where it fell from 3.94 percent to last night’s 3.24 percent viewership.

As many Korean dramas see a fall in ratings with their second episode, however, there is no cause for concern as yet, as the tvN drama still has eight more episodes to air.

Dong Jae, The Good or the Bastard is a spin-off of the hit K-drama Stranger, but this time following now-formerly corrupt prosecutor Seo Dong Jae (Lee Joon Hyuk) who is now trying to improve his reputation.

It stars Lee Joon Hyuk, Park Sung Woong and Hyun Bong Sik, and is streaming outside South Korea on Paramount+ in some regions.

Check back to Leo Sigh next week to see how ratings are going for both shows then.
