Detectives These Days Are Crazy’s Azuha Hoshino character video intros the eccentric inventor

Upcoming comedy mystery anime Detectives These Days Are Crazy!  (aka Mattaku Saikin no Tantei to Kitara) just got its latest character video, and this week it’s Azuha Hoshino who’s the lucky lady.

The Azuha Hoshino character video follows on from those for Mashiro, Yuu Asunaro and Hana Kazamaki, and, like the others, makes Azuha look and sound as insane as they are — if not more so.

Yep, this anime seems to have more than its fair share of loony characters and, yeah, I’m definitely all in for it too.

In the Azuha Hoshino character video, we see the eccentric inventor saying she has 1,000 ideas running around in her head, while she shows off a few examples of her inventions — loud ones, and scary ones.

Unfortunately, Azuha lives above protagonist Nagumo’s detective agency, so it’s not as if he and Mashiro can ignore her either.

Farouz Ai is the voice of Azuha Hoshino

That amazingly crazy-sounding voice, by the way, is provided by the brilliant Fairouz Ai.

The almost 32-year-old voice actress, who actually got her start in the voice acting business much later than most, has been responsible for some of the most iconic anime characters of the last few years.

They currently include Power in Chainsaw Man, Manjirou Sano in Tokyo Revengers, Jolyne in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Delta in The Eminence in Shadow, Kikoru in Kaiju No. 8 and Angelica in Trapped in a Dating Sim to name just a few.

Detectives These Days Are Crazy! production details

The anime itself is being animated by LIDEN FILMS (Call of the Night), with Rion Kujo (The Legendary Hero Is Dead!) directing, script composition from Rintarou Ikeda (Insomniacs After School), and Isoroku Koga (episode director for I Parry Everything) in charge of character design.

The animated series is adapted from the manga of the same title by Masakuni Igarashi.

As for the Detectives These Days are Crazy! plot, it looks like this:

He instantly solves difficult cases that shock the world! His name is the great detective, Nagumo Keiichiro!!

But that was over 10 years ago… nowadays Nagumo has become just a boring old man…

He has been left behind by the times and can’t even use a smartphone, but then a young high school girl named Mashiro comes to him, wanting to be his assistant –!?

Everything released for the anime so far key visuals, character trailers, PVs appear to suggest the anime may be one of the weirdest we’ve seen in a while.

The first episode drops in July. And that’s when we’ll find out.
