Given Movie 3: Umi e’s title song ‘Umi e’ by SYH gets music video and it’s as touching as hell

The Given Movie 3: Umi e title song is as touching as you’d expect

With Given Movie 3: Umi e, the third and final part of the Given anime film series, currently playing in movie theaters in Japan, it was only a matter of time before we got a music video for the title (theme?) song.

That animated music video for ‘Umi e” (aka “To the Sea”) performed by SYH, is only two minutes in length, but does a lovely job of showing that intense emotion we fell in love with during the entire Given series.

Watch that music video for the short version of ‘Umi e‘ down below.

Umi e‘ was partially written by Yuki before he died, and finished by Rikka, for Mafuyu

In the video, we see SYH on stage with Rikka performing ‘Umi e‘, while Mafuyu stands in the audience amazed.

And then, of course, with uncontrollable tears flooding down his face as he realizes part of ‘Umi e‘ is the song he himself and Rikka wrote – the utterly heart-wrenching ‘Mafuyu’s Song, which has been skillfully woven into ‘Umi e‘ –  the song Mafuyu’s late boyfriend Yuki partially composed for Mafuyu.

And Rikka then finished.

On behalf of Yuki, of course.

When is Given Movie 3: Umi e releasing in the west?

Unfortunately, there is no word when Given Movie 3: Umi e or its predecessor Given Movie 2: Hiiragi Mix, which came out in January of this year, will release in the west.

The late release is usually due to when the Blu-ray version of an anime is released in Japan. But your guess is as good as mine as to what that means for us.

But… we did get that lovely ‘Umi e’ music video today, so we at least have a feel for the touching film we will (hopefully) eventually get.

The full 4:48 minute version of ‘Umi e‘ has also been released on Spotify, which you can listen to via the player below.

Watch the Given anime on Crunchyroll

Like the Given series, the first and second film and the OVA, Given Movie 3: Umi e is based on the hit Boys’ Love manga series by Natsuki Kizu.

You can watch the series, the first film and the OVA via Crunchyroll in both the subbed and dubbed versions.
