Gyeongseong Creature 3rd most-watched non-English TV show on Netflix

The first seven episodes of the new Korean mystery horror thriller Gyeongseong Creature was released on Netflix on December 22nd and, in just the three days it was streaming, the K-drama climbed to #3 on the Netflix Most-Watched Non-English TV Show chart for the period December 18th to December 24th.

According to Netflix, Gyeongseong Creature was watched over 3 million times in just the first three days of release, for a total of more than 24 million hours viewed.

The drama was also in the Top 10 in 20 countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, Peru, Hong Kong and India.

It climbed to #1 in South Korea.

What is Gyeongseong Creature about?

The Korean drama was directed by Jung Dong Yoon (It’s Okay Not To Be Okay), and written by Kang Eun Kyung (Dr. Romantic).

It stars Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee and Soo Hyun, takes place in 1945 Gyeongseong (now present-day Seoul), and tells the story of wealthy businessman Jang Tae Sang (played by Park Seo Joon) who suddenly becomes involved with Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee), a woman whose talent is finding missing people.

The pair get together in an attempt to solve several missing persons cases only to discover the cases may not only be connected, but that they are leading them to a local hospital and an incredibly disturbing situation neither of them expected to find.

The K-drama is currently being praised by fans for its superb special effects, gorgeous cinematography, an actually frightening monster, and the performances of its main leads.

The first seven episodes of Gyeongseong Creature are now available to stream on Netflix, with the final three releasing on January 5th, 2024.
