We reported back in late May that actors Jin Ki Joo (Uncle Samsik) and Seo Kang Joon (When the Weather is Fine) were “in talks” to star in new action comedy drama Undercover High School.
Today, MBC has finally confirmed that, yes, Jin Ki Joo will star in Undercover High School after Seo Kang Joon’s participation was confirmed earlier in the month.
According to Korean news media, Undercover High School is a 12-episode comedy that follows National Intelligence Service agent Jung Hae Sung (played by Seo Kang Joon).
After an incident that causes him to be demoted, he is forced to go undercover as a high school student in an attempt to find the whereabouts of a fortune in King Gojong’s missing gold bars.
Jin Ki Joo will play Hae Sung’s homeroom teacher and part-time Korean history teacher, Oh Soo Ah.
She suddenly finds herself in a strange situation where a new student in her homeroom, Jung Hae Sung, reminds her of her high school crush. A guy who broke her heart. (I think we all know the plot twist to this one, eh?)
The Korean drama begins shooting next month, with a conditional premiere date of some time early in 2025. (February is being talked about on some message boards!)
Undercover High School is being directed by Choi Jung In (Knight Flower), and was written by Im Young Bin (Bad Prosecutor), so it sounds extremely promising.
Actress Kim Min Ju (Connection) is also starring.
