Listen to Counting Crows’ ‘Baby, I’m a Big Star Now’ from The Bear, S2 E2 as Carmy and Sydney are at his apartment

American indie rock band Counting Crows’ ‘Baby, I’m a Big Star Now‘ was one of the songs playing on the new season of the comedy drama The Bear this week — The Bear, Season 2, Episode 2, “Pasta“.

The song was played as Carmy and Sydney arrive at his apartment, Carmy takes his jeans out of the oven, and then the pair begin to set up so they can prepare a new recipe.

Counting Crows’ ‘Baby, I’m a Big Star Now‘ was released in October 1999 as the B-side for the band’s ‘Hanginaround‘ single release.

A single that went on to chart on six American charts, including at #1 on the Adult Alternative Songs chart, and at #28 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Hanginaround‘ also ranked high on charts in Canada, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Scotland.

It was then featured on the soundtrack of the 1998 movie Rounders starring Edward Norton and Matt Damon, which made it even popular.

Counting Crows’ ‘Baby, I’m a Big Star Now‘ is almost impossible to find

Almost a decade later, the song was re-released in 2008 as a UK bonus track on the indie rock band’s fifth studio album Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings.

Despite its popularity and the love from fans, Counting Crows’ ‘Baby, I’m a Big Star Now‘ is also an oddity, as it is almost impossible to buy or listen to on most streaming services.

Despite, as many fans insist, it is one of the best songs the band has ever released.

You can listen to Counting Crows’ ‘Baby, I’m a Big Star’ as heard on The Bear though via a video a fan uploaded to YouTube over a decade ago.
