Recently, more and more South Korean talent agencies are stepping up and defending the actors, singers and groups they represent against malicious rumors and outright lies.
The latest agency to step up is SOURCE MUSIC, who announced earlier today they will now be taking legal action against anyone writing malicious lies about the members of the girl group LE SSERAFIM as, it seems, they are tired of their clients’ characters being defamed.
Good for them, eh!
Especially as a certain segment of the Korean K-pop “fandom” is toxic beyond measure, and should be shown their disgusting actions have very real world consequences.
Statement from SOURCE MUSIC regarding legal action on behalf of LE SSERAFIM
According to Korean news media, the statement SOURCE MUSIC released about taking legal action on behalf of LE SSERAFIM said:
We are aware of the recent increase in malicious personal attacks against individual artists, as well as malicious posts that cross the line by using anonymity.
Consequently, we are strengthening the monitoring and recording of such posts going forward.
Posts aimed at defaming and maligning an artist’s character, sexual harassment, mockery based on falsehoods, slander and abusive language are all subject to prosecution.
We are also collecting evidence of posts that are systematically created to create negative public opinion, and then deleted to avoid leaving evidence through our real-time monitoring system.
We would like to reiterate that the personal rights of our artists, including our underage members, are being seriously violated.
Thus, we will take strict action against malicious posts regardless of the channel. That includes social media and online communities.
We are also grateful for valuable reports from true fans through our legal response account ([email protected]), and encourage you to continue to contact us with any new information you may find.
