The latest JTBC drama The Tale of Lady Ok premiered to extremely solid ratings on Saturday night. Ratings that were higher than most other K-dramas earned in that time slot on JTBC this year.
And now, on Sunday evening, The Tale of Lady Ok, Episode 2 ended with even higher ratings, showing off a substantial audience increase compared to its first episode.
That nationwide rating for The Tale of Lady Ok, Episode 2 was 6.81 percent compared to Saturday night’s 4.20 percent. It also earned the historical romance drama the #1 place in its time slot.
Seoul viewers also tuned into the K-drama in much higher numbers, garnering its second episode 7.19 percent of the viewership — a huge increase of 2.5 percent over its first rating in just 24 hours.
Both increases, of course, can be placed firmly at the feet of director Jin Hyeok (Sisyphus: The Myth), the excellent writing from screenwriter Park Ji Sook (Uncle), and the performances of the stellar main cast — Im Ji Yeon, Choo Young Woo, Yeonwoo and Kim Jae Won — who really got this series off to a superb start right from its first scenes.
The next episode of The Tale of Lady Ok will air on Saturday, December 7th.
Its ratings may fall slightly then, as it is does have serious competition from both When the Phone Rings and The Fiery Priest 2 during some part of its time slot whereas, on Sundays, it airs without any rivals.
But, if it does, my guess is it will come roaring back with a vengeance on Sunday.
Outside South Korea, the drama is streaming on WeTV, Netflix or KOCOWA depending on where you live.
