The Tale of Lady Ok poster shows Im Ji Yeon beaten up and looking downtrodden

It’s still over a month before the new Korean drama The Tale of Lady Ok premieres, but JTBC is already in promotion mode (Yay!) releasing a new poster today featuring female lead Im Ji Yeon in the titular role.

The new The Tale of Lady Ok poster has Ok Tae Young sitting in a beautifully decorated palanquin but, unlike the ornately decorated carriage, she is wearing old, stained clothing, and has obviously been hit, as wounds are visible on her face.

The woman herself is a low-born servant who, due to various circumstances, enters a “long con” and begins a new life as a legal expert — Lady Ok — a woman who has faked her background, her education, and her husband in order to get ahead.

She is protected by Cheon Seung Hwi (played by Once Upon a Small Town‘s Choo Young Woo).

Seung Hwi is a storyteller who meets her, instantly falls in love, and vows he will do everything he can to protect her.

The Tale of Lady Ok poster’s tagline comments “The fate of a servant who is carried in a flowered palanquin”, leaving viewers to anticipate just what that fate may turn out to be.

The JTBC drama also stars Yeonwoo (Bitter Sweet Hell), and Kim Jae Won (Stealer: The Treasure Keeper), with a supporting cast that includes Lee Jae Won (Dr. Brain), Sung Dong Il (If You Wish Upon Me), Kim Mi Sook (Little Women), Kim Jae Hwa (Cleaning Up) and Oh Dae Hwan (Shadow Detective).

The Korean historical romance drama is being directed by Jin Hyeok (Sisyphus: The Myth), and was written by Park Ji Sook (Uncle).

Look out for its first episode in South Korea on November 30th on JTBC in the same time slot as the ongoing K-drama A Virtuous Business.

There is no word yet on the overseas streaming platform The Tale of Lady Ok will appear on, but fingers crossed it’s Netflix, eh?
