Those ratings — both in Seoul and nationwide — saw a nice increase from Friday night’s episode, and set the K-drama well on its way to more record ratings next week.

According to data via Nielsen Korea, The Winning Try, Episode 4 earned 5.4 percent of the Saturday night audience nationwide yesterday, compared to the 5.1 percent the Korean drama garnered on Friday night.

In Seoul, the SBS drama grabbed an even higher 6.0 percent, compared to the 5.5 percent it earned for Episode 3.

With the Korean drama increasing its ratings with every episode since Episode 1 then, it looks likely we may see even higher ratings when Episode 5 premieres on August 8th.

What do international viewers think about The Winning Try after Episode 4 aired?

Interestingly, the Yoon Kye Sang-led drama is still performing incredibly well in the opinions of international viewers.

On My Drama List, where an 8.0 out of 10 is deemed to be an excellent drama, The Winning Try is currently being awarded an 8.3 out of 10, which is a slight increase from the 8.2 it has been earning for the last two weeks.

Comments also continue to be positive after Episode 4 aired, ranging from compliments about the writing and plot:

Mun Ung’s recruitment process and the whole story of his father were so touching. Being a sportsman really is a gamble and a risk. I loved the realness of it all. So excited for the much awaited team assemble and looking forward to the team dynamics.

to one person desperate to binge-watch the entire drama:

What a bunch of mean adult bullies. If the team was sick, shouldn’t that be a withdrawal/forfeit instead of them making a dumb rule about playing another sport? I can’t wait until all those fools finally get their karma (hopefully) at the end.

And all those dumb student athletes laughing at him for not knowing how to fence or shoot- you try playing a different sport.

Is it Friday yet? This is definitely a binge-worthy drama and that ending makes me want to watch the next episode now.

Viewers using IMDB are also rating The Winning Try an excellent (for that site) 8.4 out of 10.

That rating has dropped slightly from yesterday’s 8.5 out of 10, but not a fall that’s worth writing home about.

In other words, the Korean drama has been popular from its first episode, and is only increasing in popularity as more episodes drop.

The Winning Try stars Yoon Kye SangIm Se Mi and Kim Yo Han.

It airs every Friday and Saturday evening on SBS in South Korea, and on Netflix internationally.
